A Celebration of Women in Engineering

The Professional Engineers of Ontario Peterborough Chapter is honoured to celebrate achievements and encourage studies for women in disciplines of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) in remembrance of the École Polytechnique tragedy that occurred in Montreal, 28 years ago on December 6th.

In days and years that followed the tragedy, many have directed their grief towards affecting positive change. Although changes cannot undo the past, many results incurred have been in honour of the 14 who were killed and others wounded. We wanted to take what has come from the tragedy and positively embrace the strength of women in the years to follow.

In the first year of this event, we aim at strengthening connections within our community while celebrating achievements and inspiring education opportunities for women in STEM. Our event is intended to showcase individual successes from professional women who have the ability to empower the community with their own vision and stories. In doing so, we hope to foster role models and form new networks in the community for years to come.

Donations of any amount (suggested $10 per person, payable at the door) are welcome to advance future initatives for Women in STEM in the area.
